B2 Routing in UAV-Aided Wireless Sensor Networks Lennart Almstedt

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are deployed in various use-cases such as farming, wildlife management, and search and rescue operations. In cases, in which the WSNs are deployed in remote areas, energy efficiency is crucial since replacing the sensor's batteries at remote locations is expensive or, in some instances, even impossible. Recently, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), such as drones, have been used to assist in collecting the data produced by WSNs, creating a so-called UAV-Aided WSN (UAWSN). UAVs are leveraged as an easy to reach sink allowing the data to be transmitted either in fewer hops or are even needed to provide an uplink in general, e.g. in areas where no other uplinks like GSM are available.

Your task consists of two steps. In the first step, you will give a broad overview of UAWSNs and the routing algorithms designed for them. In the second step, you will pick two or three routing algorithms for detailed analysis and comparison.

B3 Generation of Collective Perception Messages Dr. Keno Garlichs

Collective Perception is a concept where vehicles exchange information about objects they detect with their local sensors. This way, vehicles can often know about the existence of objects long before they can detect them with their own sensors. One of the challenges with Collective Perception is when to transmit which part of the available data in order not to overload the communication channel. Since the publication of a Technical Report by ETSI, some new concepts have been proposed.

Your task is to first give an introduction to Collective Perception itself. Afterwards, research different message generation concepts and compare them to each other.

Ablauf

Auch in diesem Semester wird es wieder eine gegenseitige Begutachtung der Ausarbeitungen durch die Teilnehmer des Seminars geben. Das bedeutet, dass jeder Teilnehmer nach der Abgabe der finalen Version seiner Ausarbeitung zwei Ausarbeitungen anderer Teilnehmer erhält, zu denen er ein kleines Gutachten (Review) schreiben muss. Dieses Review soll sowohl positive als auch negative Kritik enthalten und dazu beitragen, dass die Ausarbeitung weiter verbessert wird. Für den Review-Prozess und die Abgaben der eigenen Arbeit wird ein entsprechendes Konferenzsystem verwendet.

Hinweise

Die Ausarbeitung ist als PDF abzuliefern. Der Umfang der Ausarbeitung muss dabei 12 bis 15 Seiten umfassen, für den Vortrag selbst sind minimal 18, maximal 22 min. angesetzt. Jeder Teilnehmer des Seminars erhält Basisliteratur zu seinem jeweiligen Thema. Darüber hinaus sollte jeder Teilnehmer zusätzlich eine selbständig Recherche, z.B. im Internet durchführen. Die Betreuer stehen hierbei jederzeit gerne hilfreich zur Seite.

Aufgrund entsprechender Erfahrungen soll auch noch auf die Selbstverständlichkeit hingewiesen werden, dass die Ausarbeitung in eigenen Worten erfolgen muss und das durch den elektronischen Bezug von Literatur verleitete Copy&Paste von Textpassagen ein Vergehen gegen die Prüfungsordnung darstellt.

Vorlagen und Hilfestellungen für LaTeX sind auf der Seite "Vorlagen für Arbeiten am IBR" zu finden. Die Verwendung von LaTeX ist verpflichtend.
