Mr. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christian Mengert-Dietrich has accepted the call to the Professorship for Reliable Distributed Systems at the Institute for Operating Systems and Computer Networks. He will begin his activities on April 1, 2024. Thus, regular teaching operations in the field of operating systems and other related topics will resume from the summer semester of 2024. Christian studied at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and received his doctorate in 2019 from the Leibniz University Hannover on the topic Interaction-Aware Analysis and Optimization of Real-Time Application and Operating System. Since 2021, he has been an Assistant Professor at the Hamburg University of Technology and the head of the Operating Systems Group. He is interested in fundamental operating system primitives, non-volatile memory, and memory management. As a gift for the Advent season, he brings us all an exciting System-Call Advent Calendar. Every day in December, we will open a door and find a system call, a concept, or an interface of Linux. Behind each door, there is a short article and a small exercise, the solution to which will be provided the following day. In this process, we will not adhere to the POSIX standards, but rather delve into the depths of Linux-specific interfaces! You can either just read and enjoy the articles (and the solution code) or work on the tasks yourself. The most important part of this calendar is that we have fun together and learn something about Linux. |
