Hi,

        Here is the output of my try....

% Tnm::snmp generator -version SNMPv3 -address 172.16.0.244
snmp0
% snmp0 getnext 1.3
noResponse 0 {}
% snmp0 configure
-address 172.16.0.244 -port 161 -version SNMPv3 -user root -context {}
-engineID {} -authPassWord public -privPassWord privat -readSecurity
noAuth/noPriv -writeSecurity md5/des -transport udp -timeout 5 -retries 3
-window 10 -delay 0 -tags {}
%

I am not seeing engineID in the configure.....

Thanks and let me know how to get it....

-Hari

The session handle should contain the correct engineID after the
"noResponse" timeout. Please check. (You can do engineID discovery
without sending an empty request with no user name since you will get
back a report on any message which does not have the right engineID in
it.)

I think it does the discovery, but it returns a noResponse since it
caches the packet with the unknown engineID value for retransmissions.
This is what IMHO needs to get fixed - or we do explicit engineID
discovery. However, the strategy currently implemented will work with
any engineID which does not match, which is a bit friendlier in cases
where you have an existing session handle and you just change the
target IP address.
