RE: [tkined] How to get the engineID?

Hi,

        When I enabled the watch on snmp, I got the following output when I
tried to
        send a request to SNMPv3 Agent I have. It seems there is some
mismatch. But
        I don't understand clearly about the tag 0x82 that is returning from
my SNMPv3
        agent. But scotty says, it is expecting 0x30. What is the tag? Is
this related
        the kind of SNMPv3 Agent supported by scotty.

        Here is the output for the commands....

% Tnm::snmp generator -address 172.16.0.244 -version SNMPv3
snmp0
% snmp0 configure
-address 172.16.0.244 -port 161 -version SNMPv3 -user hsanapoo -context {}
-engineID {} -authPassWord public -privPassWord privat -readSecurity

-window 10 -delay 0 -tags {}
% Tnm::snmp watch on

% snmp0 getnext 1.3

        I hope somebody will understand the output clearly and appreciate
any
        help to resolve the issue. Pls let me know whether I have an SNMPv3
Agent
        which is not supported by Scotty...

        Thanks,

Well, perhaps you have the wrong agent. ;-)

Seriously, which agent are you talking to? Scotty picks up the
engineID from at least the SNMP Research agent implementation.

It may be useful to actually capture the messages exchanged between
the manager and the agent using an SNMPv3 capable tcpdump or by
turning `snmp watch on'.
