Hi -

I'm having trouble with scotty when I try to to a get on an
object defined with SYNTAX BITS.

I just upgraded to the latest snapshot, and Tcl/Tk 8.2.
Doing a get on P-BRIDGE-MIB!dot1dDeviceCapabilities.0

illegal value for integer enumeration
Aborted (core dumped)

A gdb trace shows

#0 0x401494e1 in __kill () from /lib/libc.so.6
#1 0x40149156 in raise (sig=6) at ../sysdeps/posix/raise.c:27
#2 0x4014a868 in abort () at ../sysdeps/generic/abort.c:88
#3 0x40061b71 in Tcl_PanicVA () from /usr/lib/libtcl8.2.so
#4 0x40061b98 in Tcl_Panic () from /usr/lib/libtcl8.2.so
#5 0x40257b42 in TnmMibFormatValue () from /usr/lib/tnm3.0.0.so
#6 0x40257c4b in TnmMibFormat () from /usr/lib/tnm3.0.0.so
#7 0x40252037 in DecodePDU () from /usr/lib/tnm3.0.0.so

The reply from the agent formats the varbind as an octet string.
I am using SNMP v1; is that my problem?

The same thing happens with the 981104 snapshot.

I'm using a RedHat 6.1 box; kernel 2.2.12; glibc 2.1.2
