IntroductionWith spectrum becoming more and more scarce in the licensed ITS band and 5G technology at the horizon, new possibilities to share perceived information among vehicles arise. The Collective Perception Message (CPM) [0] is currently being sent directly between ITS stations using dedicated short range communication based on IEEE 802.11 (Wireless LAN). If, due to spectral reasons, this became impossible, cellular networks like the upcoming 5G can be used instead. 5G will have a short communication range and therefore lots of relatively small cells. Vehicles in those cells could transmit their perception information to the base stations of the cells which in turn forward it to some kind of Region of Interest (RoI) Manager. There the data will be aggregated and then unique CPMs can be build either for RoIs or even for unique vehicles depending on their location and direction of travel. FrameworkAll the evaluations will be done in simulation using the Artery V2X Simulation Framework [1], using the existing implementation of the Collective Perception Service [2]. In order to complete the task, the student needs basic skills in C++ and knowledge about vehicular networks. However, it is also possible to acquire those skills along the way. Material
