Hi, I am net to tkined/scotty world and find it rather nice tool.

I notice there is quite a collection of tools written for "real-time" moniroing
of the network status. However, I did not come across on the application which
polls network device (say via snmp) and store the polled information for
statistical analysis later. For example, CISCO router have per interface
statistics on how many packets have passed an interface and those kind of
information can be read via snmp. then, someone may want to store those data
periodically in the system together with an timestamp and then analysis
the collected data at a later time. Supposedly, it is doable with tcl scripts
(and so it doable in tkined). However, such application is state-oriented (in
contrast with the stateless nature of real-time monitoring/troubleshooting)
so different approach may be needed.
My question is whether such tkined applications is already existing somewhere
and/or whether such application is desirable in network management?

Thanks in advance for any comment.
