Management of virtual computers by Web services

bildbildbild This work concerns itself with the management of virtual computers by Web services. The management system should make it possible to put on a virtual computer with certain parameter and to configure it. Furthermore the management system should enable the guest systems to be merged into the management system.

A virtual computer is a copy of a real computer. A real machine could be completely copied and it called here complete Virtualization or partially copied and then it called Para Virtualization.

The virtual machines can be used productively for many purposes. Here some application possibilities follow:

  • Workload Isolation
  • Workload Konsolidation
  • Workload Migration
  • Teaching and research
  • Development

The challenge with the virtual machines is their management. Here is much manual work in demand. A management system should replace this manual work, so that the potentials of the virtual machines can be exhausted .

In the network management Community Web services enjoy of ever larger popularity . On the one hand the NETCONF protocol was standardized in the IETF , which can be used also in connection with Web services. Furthermorean OASIS specification exists with the name Web service Distributed management (WSDM) .

The thesis is occupied first with the different technik of the virtualization. Then follow the development and implementation a management system which is based on web services to control the VM's and configure them.
