An idea which I haven't tried is to give an "address" attribute to
each link leaving a node - and then modify any other scripts that
have features you want to use recognize the address attribute if
[ ined select ] returns a link.

An alternative is to make your tkined maps with each interface
represented by a separate node - for example, with the "connector"
icon. So a router is represented by a cluster of node objects instead
of just one - click on the particular interface which you want to ping,
telnet to or whatever.
