Question about logging/events

Thanks to all who replied in helping me get up and running.

I had a quick question about ip/snmp monitering and event handling ...

I just wanted to make sure I had the right settings in the event manager because
I'm failing to get data ...

Connect: I'm connecting to an arbitrary host which has the correct syslog settings
and also with is running on UDP 514 ( i changed the code to reprsent this). It's
running syslog with *.debug and it's going to a file.

I'm assuming the "server" button so I'm assuming that it's going to send all data
to this machine and that syslogd will correctly filter the requests.

When I create a filter:
Name: doesnt matter
Host: FQDN? Or just hostname?
Level: debug? 1-7?
Faculty,Process,Faculty,Process,Message: Not sure. debug? 1-7?
Action: Write? Syslog?

Also, if I do a ip-moniter-"check reachability" on a host and it's down and it
flashing and I have in it's settings to go to 'syslog' will it go there? Or
will it only check for threshhold stuff?

I'm not getting any info with an event filter set at debug. (I think).

Thanks for any info or pointers that will help me out.
