Q: How to hook a "page" program to tkined events?

Hi,

I've been "test driving" tkined for some time on an SGI Indy workstation,
and I like what I've seen so far. A (hopefully) simple question: I've
written a little quick & dirty shell script to send and alpha page to a
Skytel pager. Is there a way to hook it into tkined so that tkined calls
it with a suitable text message when certain "events" occur
(specifically, unreachable nodes or other events which cause node
flashing to occur)?

If this is not trivial, can someone point me to which source file I
should be mucking around with? It might be as simple as adding to the
section which logs to syslog, but calling the pager code instead/in
addtion.

Versions in use:

tkined: 1.3.1
scotty: 1.3.5

Thanks in advance,

Alan

P.S. Regarding a previous thread, I too am in favor of a mechanism to
"double-click" an icon to be able to bring up a completely different map.
I'd like to default to a US map with only routers and networks on it and
"drill down" to individual locations by double-clicking. The request for
background operation, especially when hooked to a pager, wall, or some
other (not-part-of-tkined) alerting mechanism, would also be VERY
beneficial to me.
