New Approaches to Distributed Management Rolf Stadler The need for network management in large-scale and dynamic network environments calls for solutions beyond traditional management paradigms. Approaches based on management overlays, p2p computing, as well as distributed aggregation and control schemes, have been recently proposed to engineer management systems that scale beyond 1000s of nodes and are robust regarding topology changes and failures. The design space is huge and still largely unexplored, and the challenges are tremendous.
