8.0.5

     A follow up question:
I need to use them interactively. For example, I need to
issue an SNMP command to my equipment and see the command effects in my
other package (the testing equipment package).
Can I do that in a convenient way? Or do I have to run them
in two separate processes and create a work around for them to talk to each
other.

Did anyone say whether Scotty eould run against 8.0.5? Did you try it?

Unless the two ( the SNMP stimulator and the test equipment package ) can
run in the same process, you'll need some means of interprocess
communication.

There are some possible workarounds, like using Expect to drive a command
line which then
calls Scotty scripts and scripts written to talk to the automated tester,
but
I'd have to know more than I do about the specifics of your automated test
environment, and
this sounds painful.

It might be worth bringing the automated test Tcl scripts up to the same
rev of tcl as Scotty,
or see if you can find some other means of gaining common ground.

     Thanks in advance.
     Eyal.

     Eyal:
You can run Scotty scripts under one verion of Tcl, and the other
tool under another.
Merely exectue a different path in the "bang"
(#!/usr/bin/tclshellexecutablename) at the top if you're *nix, or do
whatever's needed for NT.
If you'rs using file associations with NT, it gets a bit trickier.
Batch files help.

     Hello,
We are trying to build an automated testing framework at our
company. For this purpose we were working so far with the Scotty binary
for
windows. Recently we encountered a very serious problem. Our testing
equipment has a TCL package that only works under TCL version 8.0.5. We
tried to run it under TCL version 8.2 (the one that comes with the Scotty
package), and it crashes the shell. Our only other option is to try to run
Scotty under TCL version 8.0.5.
Can anybody tell us whether this is possible or not? If it is, how
do we get Scotty to work?
We just started with TCL and Scotty, and we don't have any
experience in compiling the source code and getting the package to run.
Thanks in advance.
     Eyal Raab.
