There is only an output queue. I never bothered about input queuing so
far. No, there is currently no Tcl command to get access to the queue.
But it would probably make sense to have it for debugging purposes.

This is exactly what bothers me. You should not have to change the
timeout. This indicates an error somewhere in the queuing/timeout
logic and I could in fact see many retries when I was stress testing
this code a few weeks ago. This should not happen.
