[tkined] Icons?

In the Scotty contrib directory there are two packages of icons.

One contains quite a large collection of .xbm files, but no
instructions.

Mark Newnham's "getting started" indicates that one's supposed to edit
the tkined.defaults file so that tkined picks up the extra icons. So
far, so good.

I gather that the program expects a pair of *.xbm and *Mask.xbm
files. For the icons that actually come with Scotty, the two files
don't in general seem to be the same.

The README file in the other, smaller, collection says these should
be copies of each other. "Getting started" says the same.

I can't help wondering, first, whether it would not be more
appropriate to use a symlink if the two files are supposed to be the
same; and second, whether the program code could not be modified so
that the absence of a *Mask file would be handled appropriately, so
that even the symlinks weren't needed. But I haven't actually found
where in the code this is handled.

best regards
