[tkined] beginning to use scotty

Hi,

I've been researching SNMP utilities and scotty seemed to be one of the more
highly recommended tools. I've recently created a linux machine for snmp
management. I've followed the install procedures for scotty but now I'm left
wondering what to do. My goal is to manage/survey the routers, switches and
other devices within our network. (This station exists in an NT environment,
LAN is formed with ethernet network and Bay Networks switches as well as
cisco routers...) My situation is complicated by the fact that I'm just
learning to use linux. I've got a pile of manuals that have done a great job
in facilitating my use of linux so far. My question specifically is:

Can anyone help me or give a good link to resources that have a good intro
and work into becomming advanced for using scotty specifically as well as
maybe SNMP management?

I need something that gives a basic intro but allows me to learn more as I
progress.

Also, somewhat unrelated to above, does scotty trap private mibs???

Thanks for your help,

Dan Jackson
