The scotty API follows the SMIv2 model in which notifications are
identified by an OID rather than the combination of the enterprise,
generic and specific value contained in an SNMPv1 trap message. For
all the little details and pointers to the relevant specs, please take
a look at Dave Perkin's "Questions Answered" column in the March 1998
issue of The SimpleTimes:
