I suspect - having both tkined/scotty (2.1.7) & ucd-snmp (3.5.2) - that it is partly a matter of retry & timeouts - have you tried changeing at all?

Note also that some parts of the ucd-snmp MIB tree (eg host resources) can be fairly resource intensive to find out - also some values are cached - so second time round may be more successful?

For me - by documentation:

Scotty has default of 3 retries with 5 seconds time out.

UCD-SNMP has a default of 5 retries with 1 second timeout.

Which I have to say makes me surprised that you get success with snmpwalk & failure with scotty.
