I assume your talking about Cisco Routers. The Cisco IOS revission needs to be 11.2P or beter than sub-interfaces are treated as any other interface via SNMP. I personnally created a couple of procedures within my scotty scripts to login to the routers and get that info directly. It did require using the expect library but the during the short time I used it prior to the IOS upgrade it seamed to work ok for me.
