[tkined] Not receiving traps

Hi everyone,
i've seen a few posts recently about this but their solutions didn't
solve my
problem, even though it seemed like a very similar problem.

K, first the specs
I'm running scotty 2.1.9 on a UNIX Solaris 2.6 OS

Now when i run tkined i follow the tutorial about bringing a machine up and
down
to test the trap sink. The machine i am testing with is a Proteon router
on the same
subnet as me. I'm bringing the various interfaces (there are 3, i am
telnetted into
one of them) up and down. Now the LinkUp and LinkDown traps are enabled
and i've
verified they are making it to my workstation. (using Snoop and UCDsnmp) - i
then disabled UCDsnmp3.5 and tried to run tkined but no screen or warning came
up like the tutorial said it was supposed to.

I read the stuff about community names, and set my SNMP Parameter under
SNMP-Monitor to the routers community name (verified with a sniffer). It
still
doesn't work. I also set the port to 162 which is the port that the traps are
being sent to. The network uses SNMPv1 and once this is off the test network
there are 6,000+ nodes/machines capable of generating messages, and the
community names are not all the same (for example the test lab isn't the
same as the our normal subnet).

How do I get scotty to recognize and accept the traps? What am I supposed to
do once this is out of the testing subnet? Has anyone else solved this
problem? Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

Sincerely, Jason Confer
