[tkined] How to stop monitoring node?

How in tkined does one switch off monitoring of a node (or nodes)?

I've inadvertantly switched on IP-monitor:check reachability on some PCs
discovered on one of our networks, with the result that I get the whole
subnet showing a problem when these PCs get switched off!

I tried editing the tkined config file with predictably unfortunate
results ;-) (but I did have a backup!)

(I tried the FAQ and Getting Started -- is there some other documentation
I should have looked in?)
