Monitoring IBM/MVS system causes TCP/IP to crash

Whether on discovery or simply monitoring IBM's MVS system, the ICMP packet
causes the TCPIP address space to mangle its ACB pool - an internal control
block pool. Ordinary pings have no effect. I am running MVS version 3.2.

I have traced both ICMP packets from the ping and Scotty and can find no
difference. Has anyone else suffered a similar fate? How is a Scotty ping
different to a standard ping? Any clues?
