David> I am trying to follow the "Getting started with Tkined" and
David> have run into a problem when attempting to listen for v1 traps(Trap
David> Sink). The main problem is that I never receive anything even
David> though I know traps are being sent - ie using snmptrap from(ie
David> cmu-snmp-linux-3.2) another machine to the machine running
David> tkined/scotty. I know the traps are received becacuse when
David> I run snmptrapd -v 1 -s(also from cmu-snmp-linux-3.2) from
David> the monitoring machine(after I have stopped scotty) the traps
David> are logged in syslog correctly. Also when scotty is running and
David> Trap Sink listen is enabled a netstat shows snmp-trap listening
David> correctly.
[snip]
David> Any ideas of what I should look at next ?
Please try to find out where the trap message gets lost. Run strace on
the straps daemon and the scotty process. This should give us a hint
where the problem actually is.
