I'd like to add email, logging, and paging to my list of actions.
Before I do that, though, I'd like to make a change such that only one
email or page or log entry will be made when a device goes down. If my
monitoring interval for a device has been set to, say, 5 minutes, right
now I'll be paged EVERY 5 minutes until I fix the device. While during
normal working hours this might actually be nice (it would keep me
from ignoring it), but I do not want to be paged like this off-hours.
Let me rephrase that...I will be thrown out the window if my pager goes
off all hours of the night very five minutes when a device is out.
Also, log entries and multiple emails are pretty annoying as well. One
is enough. So. Has anyone been through this? I'd hate to recreate the
wheel.
