tkined with SNMPv2

I currently use Scotty/Tkined on a Linux PC, monitoring an ISP network of over
150 machines. I like this setup for its SNMP and IP monitoring applications,
however I find (and I may be wrong) that I cannot monitor certain services.

I am planning on implementing a scheme using scotty to monitor the functioning
of DNS servers as well as WWW services. I was wondering if anyone else had
started/completed work on similar applications, or if there was any sample code
that could be used as a base. I am a novice using Tcl/Tk, therefore any info
would be helpful.

Also, I have successfully configured the Netmonitor script (I forget who wrote
it, sorry!) to implement alphanumeric paging to notify us of down machines. I
would be willing to share this info should anyone request it.

Best regards,
