I have downloaded fresh copies of Tcl7.5p1 and Tk4.1p1 from
ftp.uu.net and have comipled and installed them on a vanilla
Sparc10 with SunOs/Solaris 5.5 - gcc2.7.2 all went well.

Got fresh copies of Scotty2.1.5 all compiled fine. However,
make install returned ----

initialization failed: couldn't load file
"/usr/local/lib/tnm2.1.5.so": ld.so.1: ./scotty: fatal: relocation
error: symbol not found: Tcl_SetVar2: referenced in

Give up on [7.5p1,4.1p1]; use either [7.5,4.1], or [7.6,4.2].

Incidentally, I've broadcast advice like this a couple other
times, with some sorts of labels like "[7.5,4.1]: Juergen's
recommendation" and "[7.6,4.2]: what I'm using, happily".
I want to make a couple of points clear about this. Most
important: I have no particular standing. Scotty is Juergen's
creation. I'm just a Scotty user who is so satisfied with it
that I want to help out with some of the support load. I'm not
trying to pretend to any other status. [7.5,4.1] is what Juer-
gen advises, and that's where people ought to start. I report
my own success with [7.6,4.2] just as supplementary information,
for those whom it might interest.
