Not to be really annal but why can't you just edit straps.c and
recompile?
I can. I have. I think we're confusing each
other. Part of the 2.1.4 release was a new
"command line option to straps"--just what you
suggest below--that obviates the need for
this.

If you have a need to receive traps on more than one port you
could use the TNM_STRAPS environmental variable to use different
straps daemons or you could add a command line option t straps
and set the port number that way.
Your're right. The point both of us apparently
were missing is that Scotty2.1.* can't *receive*
traps on other-than-162; that was the content
of a message from Juergen that apparently hadn't
reached you.

I thought the ability to make such changes was the big advantage
of using freely available packages like Scotty.
I quite agree that it's one of the major ones.
