I am tring to find out if it is possible to use scotty and tkined to
implemet a network management system.

The main requirements are:
- multi user interface, with filtering and correlation of events
- big scalability (+5000 obj). The object are not only network
components but also logical ones, like processes running on a system or
disk space.

We are comparing HP Open View, Tivoli (with Sentry) and we foud out that
there are incredibily expensive.
So now we are estimating how much time (and money) we need to implement
what we need.
I am looking for many public domain SW, that could be our start point. I
am thinking that scotty could be a very good for that.

I say slow, because to move a group containig 170 hosts and almost the
same number of connection, I need 2 minutes on a Ultra Sparc 1.
But it is possible to split the view in more sub views, so it is no more
so slow.

I am looking for big site to convice the management that with scotty we
can implement a tool for our environment.

We best regard
