Hello,

I am new to snmp manangement and have started uysing tkined and scotty
as a tool to assist me in learning how to monitor my network.

I have been using tkined for a little while and started using some
of the more advanced tools like the MIB browser.
However, I have encountered a few problems with it
(and tkined)...

Often while loading some tools, or using the mib browser,
I get either no error message at all - and nothing happens,
or I get the following error message when selecting certain menu items:

At this point I am loading "sun.mib" and trying to inspect each variable
in the browser...

When I click on the variable I get-

bgerror failed to handle background error.
Original error: invalid command name "Dialog_FileSelect"
Error in bgerror: invalid command name "Dialog_Confirm"

bgerror failed to handle background error.
Original error: invalid command name "Dialog_Request"

And then I can go no further on my quest for enlightenment ;(

I thought it might be a permissions problem on some files,
but I cannot find anywhere on my system any files called
Dialog_FileSelect or Dialog_Confirm or Dialog_Request...

What is wrong with my setup?

I have successfully install a few mibs as the come up correctly - I can
tell,
the problem lies in the code somewhere...

I'm using Tcl7.5 and Tk4.1
with tkined-1.4.4 and tnm-2.14

on my platform: SunOS juno 5.5.1 Generic_103640-01 sun4c sparc
SUNW,Sun_4_40

I am certain there are other similar problems, since it took me ages to
get the tools menu to load,
and it turned out to be a permission problem on some files.

In this case I have now made certain that all the permissions are
correct, but I think
I am missing something...

please help!

Rachel
