Monitoring a DisplayString variable

Hi

I am trying to monitor a DisplayString variable from the hpnp.mib from
within TkIned. I am able to read the variable directly via a scotty
script, but I would like to be able to see the variable on my graphical
tkined display. The variable I am interrested in is gdStatusDisplay,
that shows the string viewed in the printer display.

I cannot use "Monitor Variable" from "SNMP-Monitor", as the type is
wrong. Before digging into the code to try to add a "Monitor Text
Variable" menu entry, I would like to hear if this is possible in an
unmodified tkined. If not, can someone give me a hint as to where to add
such code? I am not very picky as to how I see the variable, so maybe
this can be achived tith a hack that tells "Monitor Variable" just to
give the chart the value 0, but show the string as the chart text.

I hope someone can help.

Thanks,
