I have been looking at the Makefile that has been generated by
configure for my system (Linux 1.2.13) (tcl7.5. It seems that because
it cannot work out how to generate shared libraries on my system, It
is creating a Makefile that hasn't got a chance of completing normally
e.g if it cannot create tnm.so it tries to create a c program tnm.
However, no tnm.c exists so there is no main() etc, etc, etc This raises
the question:-

a) will scotty 2.1.0 work without shared libraries?

b) If not, can I run shared libraries on Linux (not really a
tkined/scotty question but reasonably relevant under the
circumstances), where can I found out how to do this.

c) If it will, can anyone help with debugging the Make file.

Another possible issue, in tkined.c there is a function declared

Tk_CreateMainWindow(arg,arg,arg,arg).

But tk4.1 only has the function

TkCreateMainWindow(arg,arg,arg)

Is this a tk version or scotty problem.
