Now thatthe getting started guide is out for evaluation, and spring is
here, a (not so) young man's thoughts turn to a tkined/scotty user
guide. I propose the following sections:

1) Introduction
2) Current platform list including any known platform dependant bugs
hacks
3) Tkined user guide
4) Scotty user and programming guide
5) Bibliography,useful web sites etc
6) Security issues in systems monitoring
7) Example applications
8) Non-standard compile options.

I am willing to manage and type up this guide, but I must have willing
contributers for all sections. I have no expertise in scotty at all,
so I cannot contribute anything to that section from a knowledge
sharing point of view. All contributions would of course be
acknowledged.

To start this off, would anybody like to give me a broad 100 word
overview of what they use tkined for answering the following
questions.

1) The platform they run tkined on
2) The systems architecture they monitor
3) Whether they have modified the standard software.
4) Whether they obtained any additional tools to use with tkined
5) Whether they consider themselves skilled in the use of SNMP,
TCP/IP,unix etc.
6) whether they use the software for proactive or reactive monitoring.

Rather than flood the tkined mail server, you can send all responses
to the above questions directly to me <mark.newnham@grandmet.co.uk>.
Any other discussion points regarding the user guide should go the
usual way.
