Re: separating the monitoring engine from the display

Hmm, this really intrigued me, so I went to look, and it sounds
like you're talking about 'netguard'. (Is this right, gurus?)

Hmm, so I assume I can have another process running that allows me
to use tkined to a/ administer and b/ view the server, right?

Questions: Where can I get netguard?
Can I do all administration of the netguard functions
from tkined? Including new nodes to monitor?
If I'm doing client server as such, would it allow
'n' different users to initiate pings/snmp requests
from their tkined on their workstations that would
spawn a query process on the
tkined/netguard/monitoring sergver?
If the above is true, what happens if a user wants to
look at, say, interface load on a cisco router, would
it do the query from the server, but only display it
on the one users screen, or display it for everyone?

I really like tkined, and must spend 4 hours a day using it, I'm
very impressed....

Another question, in the 'set parameters' field of most tools, I
can choose to make an event result in write, flash, or syslog.
To where does it write?

Thanks alot, and I'll look forward to hearing anything at all
about the itneraction of a network monitoring server and using
tkined as a client....

Thanks!
