Having problems with scotty/snmp

I have a Hewlett Packard LaserJet 4si that I am trying to get snmp
info from. I have created a node with the proper name and address, and
selected SNMP-Trouble/ping. I am looking at the wire with tcpdump, and
I see no packets going across the wire. I get the error message that
the host does not respond to SNMP requests.

This is on a Sparc station 10 running sunos 4.1.3. Does anybody have
the snmp stuff from scotty 0.9 working?
