The workstation pool (CIP pool) in Room G40 of the computer science building is available to all students registered to any of the computer science programmes. You must have a so called y-account set up by the Gauß IT center. In order to work in the pool, you have to activate your account once in advance. This ensures that a local account with the same name will be set up. Note that this is account is managed completeley independant from the GITZ account, i.e., it has its own home directory and its own password. The only purpose of your GITZ password on this page is to authenticate you once, so that the account can be set up.
Der CIP-Pool im Raum G40 wird im Laufe der Semesterferien vor dem Sommersemester 2010 erneuert. Dabei werden die Rechner durch Linux-PCs ersetzt, die Softwareausstattung wird dementsprechend grundlegend umgestellt, die Administration geht vom Institut für Betriebssysteme und Rechnerverbund an das Institut für Computergrafik über, und die Benutzerverwaltung wird voraussichtlich auf das AFS des GITZ umgestellt. Die hier aktivierten y-Accounts und die unter diesen Accounts gespeicherten Daten werden dann nicht mehr aktiv benutzbar sein. Sofern Sie wichtige Daten unter Ihrem IZ-y-Account gespeichert haben, sollten Sie diese bis Ende März 2010 auf Ihren GITZ-y-Account übertragen.
